How do I find my own best time?

Test a few slots for some weeks, then trust your numbers over any study.

Threads

  1. 01Open Threads Insights. It needs at least 100 followers.
  2. 02Rotate 9:00 am, 12:00 pm and 9:00 pm and log views and replies 24 hours after each post.
  3. 03After 8 posts per slot (about 6 to 8 weeks), compare medians, not averages, so one viral post does not skew it.

Source: Sprout Social, Threads metrics. Judgement

LinkedIn

  1. 01LinkedIn analytics shows reach and audience for a profile or Page, but not activity by hour.
  2. 02Test 8:30 am and 4:30 pm in alternate weeks with the same format, and log impressions and comments at 48 hours.
  3. 03After 10 posts per slot, keep the slot with the higher median.

Judgement

Facebook

  1. 01Open Meta Business Suite Insights and track views from non-followers and shares per post.
  2. 02Test 2 to 3 slots over 6 weeks, with at least 8 posts per slot.
  3. 03Compare medians at 24 hours and keep the winner.

Judgement

Instagram

  1. 01In the Professional Dashboard, open Total followers, then Most active times. It needs a professional account; one guide says 100+ followers.
  2. 02Take your top 3 active hours and post 30 to 60 minutes before each peak. Online is not the same as engaging.
  3. 03After 8 posts per slot, compare reach from non-followers and sends per reach.

TikTok

  1. 01In TikTok Studio, open Analytics, Followers, then Follower activity. If it shows UTC, add 8 hours for Malaysia time.
  2. 02Keep posting for 6 to 8 weeks, at least 15 posts in all.
  3. 03Compare median views at 72 hours by slot and ignore one-off hits.

What is different in Malaysia?

How accurate are these times?

The week tables come from Buffer's 2026 studies of millions of posts. Buffer and Sprout Social report each account in its own local time, and so does Hootsuite, so the times read as Malaysia time with no conversion.

Their samples are mostly US and European accounts, and no measured Malaysia study exists, so a Malaysian audience may behave differently. Use these as a starting point, then follow your own insights.

Where a line is marked judgement, it is our reading for Malaysian SMEs, not a measured finding.

How the next good time is worked out

  1. 01Your device's clock is read and turned into Malaysia time (UTC+8).
  2. 02The tool finds the next ranked slot later today, then the days after, past midnight and from Sunday into Monday.
  3. 03Slots inside the Friday prayer window are skipped.

Example: on Sunday at 11:30 pm, the next good Threads time is Monday at 9:00 am, 9 h 30 min later.

Questions about posting times in Malaysia

No measured Malaysia study exists. Global studies read in Malaysia time point to weekday mornings for Threads and Facebook, late afternoons for LinkedIn and evenings for Instagram. Use them to start, then switch to your own insights after a few weeks of testing.

Yes. Buffer and Sprout Social report each account in its own local time, so a morning slot in a study is a morning slot in MYT for a Malaysian account. No conversion is needed.

For important posts, yes. Many owners and staff are at Jumaat prayers, so keep big posts out of Friday 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. This is our judgement, not a measured finding.

Consistency beats volume. The sweet spots in the studies: Threads 2 to 5, LinkedIn 2 to 5, Instagram 3 to 5 and TikTok 2 to 5 posts a week, and Facebook 1 to 2 a day. Add more only while quality holds.

They measure different things. Buffer compares each account with its own history, Sprout Social looks across its customers, and each uses a different sample, mostly US and European accounts. Your audience can behave differently, so test.

Measured data is thin. A study of over a million LinkedIn posts found first lines with a number got a median of 35 likes against 26, while question openers got fewer. TikTok's ad data shows top videos state the message in the first 3 seconds. The rest is our judgement: lead with a result, a mistake or a local pain.

Yes. Orbit Marketing schedules each platform at these researched times automatically, and you can switch to your own best times once your insights show them.
