Automation savings calculator

How much would automation save your business?

Tick the manual tasks your team repeats, such as WhatsApp replies, invoice entry or payment chasing, and adjust the minutes and frequency. The calculator turns them into hours and RM saved a month, using the DOSM median wage plus employer EPF, SOCSO and EIS, and shows how many months a starting automation takes to pay back.

How is the saving worked out?

  1. 01Each ticked task: minutes each time x times per period x periods a month x share automated.
  2. 02Periods a month: a working day counts 22 times (an assumption), a week counts 52 / 12 times, a month once.
  3. 03The task minutes are added up, multiplied by the number of people and divided by 60 for hours.
  4. 04RM a month = hours saved x staff cost an hour. A year is the monthly figure x 12.
  5. 05Payback in months = starting automation price / RM saved a month, rounded up.

Where does the default hourly cost come from?

RM 2,940 median monthly wage x (1 + 14.95% employer EPF, SOCSO and EIS) / 195 normal hours a month = RM 17.33 an hour.

Change it to your real staff cost; owners and senior staff cost more.

Which numbers are assumptions?

  • The minutes, frequency and share automated for each task are our starting judgement from builds, not survey data.
  • A working day counts 22 times a month. Six day businesses can raise the count.
  • Automation rarely removes a task fully: someone still checks exceptions, so no default is 100%.

Questions about automation savings

It is as accurate as the minutes and counts you enter. The defaults are starting assumptions, so time a real week of the task and put those numbers in for a figure you can plan with.

It is the DOSM median monthly wage for Malaysian citizens plus employer EPF, SOCSO and EIS, divided by 195 normal working hours a month, which gives RM 17.33. Change it to what your staff really cost.

Not usually. Most SMEs use the time for selling, service and follow-up that never got done. The RM figure shows what that time is worth, not a payroll cut.

It uses the published starting price of a fixed-scope automation build. Hosting, AI usage and WhatsApp message fees are paid at cost and are not in the payback figure.

No. The calculator runs in your browser and sends nothing. Only an anonymous count that the tool was used is recorded, with no numbers or personal data.
