The context
The Employment Insurance System (SIP) is run by PERKESO. Its public portal gives financial assistance to insured persons after a loss of employment, and helps them back to work through the Re-employment Placement Programme (REPP) and vocational training. Benefits include the Job Search Allowance, Early Re-employment Allowance, Reduced Income Allowance, Mobility Assistance Allowance, Training Allowance and Training Fee.
My role
Solo product designer for the whole system, on contract since January 2026, working with an AI-assisted design workflow.
Approach
- Three audiences, one system. Separate entry points and journeys for insured persons (Orang Berinsurans), training providers and PERKESO staff.
- AI-assisted research and design. AI in research, flows and design production, so the full design was delivered in under 2 months.
- Standardised design patterns. Shared patterns so every service looks and behaves the same way.
- Bahasa Malaysia and English. The portal works in both languages.
- Accessibility and policy alignment. What people need and what policy requires meet in the same design.
Outcome
The system is implemented nationwide across Malaysia, on every user platform: insured persons, PERKESO staff and training providers. The public portal is live at lindungkerjaya.perkeso.gov.my. No internal screens, data or user counts are shown here.
